40 Days of Prayer
This devotional series is in conjunction with the current curriculum series all Life and Home Groups are currently going through.
26 He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”
The growth of God’s Kingdom is like plants growing in a field. Our diligence and faithfulness in spreading God’s word (seed) is desired and useful, but there are parts of the process that only God can do (v.27). The worker must not grow discouraged in Kingdom work because ultimately, God is in charge of the process and results. Our joy is in the participation and occasionally helping with the harvest (v.29). Ask God to strengthen your perseverance.
