Adult 1 Community
Sundays @ 11a
We are introducing a new model to our Adult 1 ministry called Adult 1 Community. Starting August 20th, we are going to hold a large group time (20-25 mins) at 11a in Rm A234 (upstairs 4th & 5th grade room) before breaking off into our Life Groups. There are four main reasons we are making this change:
- Connection – I have had multiple conversations with young adults and families over the past several months where they have said something like, “I love Cottonwood, but I am having a tough time connecting to a Life Group.” We feel this connection time before Life Groups will help alleviate some of the awkwardness of trying out a new class by seeing everyone at the same time.
- Cohesiveness – In addition to each Life Group maintaining their own schedules, we will be able to offer events, studies, fellowships and more across the entire Adult 1 spectrum!
- Biblical Community – Traditionally, our Life Groups tend to be focused on Bible Study and learning. While this is important, this is not the whole of Biblical Community. Acts 2:42-47 gives us a good picture of the early church: They focused on teaching (42a), fellowship (42b), prayer (42c), ministry/service (43-45), worship (46-47a), Gospel growth (47b). Through this restructure, we hope to focus on what it means to live in this sort of Christian community.
- Outreach – This focus ties back into the connection piece. Not only will this new model provide a better way to connect our current Life Group members, but this also should help us reach out to those folks who are ready to make their next step into community.
We are excited for what God is doing in and through our Cottonwood family and are expecting Him to use this new format to reach and connect more people to this family. If you have any questions or would like to be a part of welcome team or our leadership team, please feel free to email:
