Adult 1 Community
Children: None & Ages 0-8
Adult 1 Community is for those young adult families from engaged couples to families with elementary age children. The model of this group gives you the opportunity to build relationships with other families in the church similar to your current situation, while digging deeper with a smaller group of close friendships.
Each week, the Adult 1 Community group will gather together for 20-25 minutes of master teaching. This will be a time to grow and learn as a large group. Then, everyone will break off into smaller groups called Huddles, to continue the study for that week.
There are four main reasons for this format:
- Connection – I have had multiple conversations with young adults and families over the past several months where they have said something like, “I love Cottonwood, but I am having a tough time connecting to a Life Group.” We feel this connection time before Life Groups will help alleviate some of the awkwardness of trying out a new class by seeing everyone at the same time.
- Cohesiveness – In addition to each Life Group maintaining their own schedules, we will be able to offer events, studies, fellowships and more across the entire Adult 1 spectrum!
- Biblical Community – Traditionally, our Life Groups tend to be focused on Bible Study and learning. While this is important, this is not the whole of Biblical Community. Acts 2:42-47 gives us a good picture of the early church: They focused on teaching (42a), fellowship (42b), prayer (42c), ministry/service (43-45), worship (46-47a), Gospel growth (47b). Through this restructure, we hope to focus on what it means to live in this sort of Christian community.
- Outreach – This focus ties back into the connection piece. Not only will this new model provide a better way to connect our current Life Group members, but this also should help us reach out to those folks who are ready to make their next step into community.
It is exciting to watch what God is doing in and through the Cottonwood family. If you have any questions or would like to be a part of welcome team or the A1C leadership team, please feel free to email: or text BEAU to 77978.
