We are returning to Manaus, Brazil on a Medical and Dental Mission Trip down the Amazon River. This timeframe includes travel days to and from Brazil, five ministry days on the river and a sightseeing day in Manaus. The two-story ministry boat offers exam
tables and dental chairs. A flexible spirit is a must, as sleeping accommodations while on the boat could be a bunkbed, hammock or air mattress and could be co-ed. Space is limited to 10 people, unless the physician can speak Portuguese. This would open another spot on the team, as that would be one less translator required on the boat.

PASSPORT COST: Each individual will be responsible for their own passport costs. You can apply for a passport at most post offices around the area. Due to COVID, passport appointments are booked months out. Please plan in advance to allow time for your passport to arrive in time for the trip.  The cost for a passport is $165, more if expedited. Passport pictures can be taken at different locations, including Walgreens, for $14.99.

VACCINATIONS:

Required: You must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID and carry your Covid Vaccination Card.
Recommended: While the CDC & WHO have an overall list of recommended vaccinations for Brazil, the following vaccinations are recommended specifically for our Team:

  • Hepatitis A & B
  • Tetanus (A booster if it has been 10 years since last shot)
  • Yellow Fever
  • Routine vaccinations recommended for Brazil are nearly the same as in the United States (MMR, TDAP, Chickenpox, Polio, Pneumonia)

TEAM MEMBERS: Our Team will be comprised of 10 Medical Professionals and 10 Interpreters. If a Medical Professional can speak Portuguese or Spanish, another position will open on the team for another Medical Professional.
