BAPTISM

"When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus." Acts 19:5

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

BAPTISM

Baptism is for those who repent and believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and that it symbolizes the believer’s union with Christ and union with other believers. While baptism does not bring salvation, it is an act of obedience in responding to the example of Jesus.

WHY IMMERSION?

IMMERSION

We believe that immersion of the believer best represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Greek, Baptism is the Greek word “Baptizo," which means to Immerse. Additionally, this act shows obedience (Matthew 28:19-20), witness (Acts 1:8), honors the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:20) and challenges others.

baptism faq

  • WHY DO I NEED TO BE BAPTIZED?

Jesus was baptized (Matthew 3:7; Mark 1:1-11). Jesus commanded the Church to baptize (Matthew 28:18- 20).
  • WHEN DO I GET BAPTIZED?

    After Salvation (Acts 2:38, 41; 8:12-13, 36-38; 9:17-18; 16:31-34).
  • DOES BAPTISM COMPLETE SALVATION?

No. Salvation is by faith alone (John 3:16; 5:24; 6:47; Ephesians 2:8-10; Rom. 10:9-13) and (Thief on the cross: Luke 23:40-43).
  • DO I HAVE TO BE BAPTIZED IN ORDER TO BE A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH?

Our first priority is to see people come to faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:16) Our second priority is to see individuals walk in obedience to Christ’s example.
  • WHAT DOES THE BIBLE TEACH ABOUT INFANT BAPTISM?

Not practiced, pictured, or commanded anywhere in the Bible.
  • DO YOU HAVE BABY DEDICATION?

Yes. We have baby dedication times for parents to commit children to grow up in the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
  • WHY BAPTIZED BY IMMERSION AS OPPOSED TO SPRINKLING?

Sprinkling is not consistent with the definition, meaning and inference of Scripture related to baptism. Sprinkling does not grasp the full symbolism of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
