Kairos is a ministry of the church … a ministry of the apostles whom Jesus, the Christ, has called into community and sent forth into the environment of the correctional institution. Kairos has been called the best example of the early church in existence today.
Today in the state of Texas there are 165,000 men and women incarcerated in our prisons. They are in need to find forgiveness and hope for a better future through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
The recidivism rate in Texas is now 26%. The graduates of the Kairos Program is 6%. At this time Kairos of Texas has 5000 volunteers that work in 59 out of the 103 prisons in Texas. The mission field is great but the workers are few. COME JOIN US in getting the Good News of Jesus Christ to these men and women who need a second chance.
There are many ways you can be involved in this ministry:
1. Kairos Inside – serving as a volunteer in a men’s, women’s or juvenile unit
2. Kairos Outside – Serving the female loved ones of the incarcerate men
Working with our prayer ministry – “International prayer chain”
3. Writing letters of encouragement
4. Making posters to be used on Kairos Weekends
5. Baking forgiveness cookies
We still need a leader for this Focus Area, please consider joining our leadership team by submitting a registration form.
Our Charity Projects/Community Events for 55 + members would like to show God’s love to the community by providing 3-4 service opportunities per year. Our steering group will organize these events in advance and provide notification to our members over 55 that may have an interest in serving the community.
Our hopes are to make connections outside of the church, and bringing others to know Christ, our church and our life groups.
To secure volunteer opportunities within local non-profit organizations.
