This year for DETONATE, we will be digging into the LIVE curriculum from Bible Engagement Project. Here is our Session Overview:
Jesus’ offer is remarkably clear: If we look for Jesus, we’ll find Him. He’s not hiding from us, but closely connecting with Him does take us being intentional. We’re called to follow Him, to pursue Him. In this volume, we’ll look at how individuals pursued Jesus through the challenges of their circumstances. Pursuing Jesus is not only a mental exercise for personal growth, but it also means living out our faith in tangible ways: showing up, listening carefully, receiving grace, and trusting Him.
In this Live session, kids will discover that they can have faith that God is working in other people’s lives, not just their own. After our initial internal response to Jesus, believers are called to use the change we’ve experienced to make a difference for others. The faith of four men on behalf of their paralyzed friend is a great example of how much we can do to connect people with Jesus.
In this Live session, kids will discover that God is always close to them even when they face situations or hardships that make it seem He is absent or uninvolved. In the Bible story, Jesus was sleeping while a storm raged at sea, but He immediately responded when His disciples called out to Him. Similarly, kids will learn that the situations they face don’t determine who God is or if He is there for those who seek Him. He is always present no matter what we’re facing.
In this Live session, kids will discover that they can depend on God, even in situations that seem hopeless or where the timing of God’s answer to prayer is delayed. The story of Zechariah and Elizabeth waiting on God for a son shows us how to depend on Him in a special way. Trusting God like this teaches us things about Him and ourself that we couldn’t learn if all our problems were solved the moment they arose.
In this Live session, kids will discover that although God always cares about the problems we face, we don’t always see Him answer our problems in the timing or manner that we might hope for. This drives us to continue to depend on God as we navigate through our hardships. Martha and Mary, Lazarus’s sisters, show us how to stay close to God and trust Him as we wait.
In this Live session, kids will discover that God will lead them, even in the midst of their struggles, confusion, or difficulty. When the father of a sick boy asked Jesus to heal his son, Jesus’ instructions surprised the dad, but he chose to trust and follow what Jesus said. Knowing that God is leading us through our hardships gives us someone to depend on. As we trust and follow God’s lead, we can look forward to the future God has for us.
In this Live session, kids will discover the importance of being committed to serving God. Even though it won’t always be easy, we’re called to serve God no matter what we face. From the example of Stephen, kids will learn how to follow God even in the face of persecution.
In this Live session, kids will discover how to grow deeper in their relationship with God. Through the Parable of the Sower that Jesus told, kids will learn that God wants His Word to be planted deeply in our heart and life. When we allow God’s Word to take root down into our life, we will see growth in every area.
