Andrea Schultz, M.Ed., LPC-S, RPT-S

Practice Name: HopeWorks Counseling

Email: aschultz@hopeworkscounseling.org

About: Andrea Schultz has specialized in counseling services for children, adolescents, and families for more than 30 years. She received her Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas. Andrea is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist. She is also a Certified AutPlay® Therapist, having completed specialized training in adapting the principles of play therapy to working with autistic children. Andrea holds advanced licensure as a board-approved clinical supervisor for therapists in training.

Andrea’s experience includes 16 years at the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, a recognized leader in the field of abuse and trauma, where she served as a therapist and clinical supervisor. She has worked extensively with children, adolescents, and families in the areas of abuse, trauma, grief and loss, divorce, blended-family issues, and parent-child relationship issues. She is experienced in the treatment of childhood anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, school difficulties, and a variety of behavioral issues. While Andrea specializes in work with children, adolescents, and families, she is also experienced in the treatment of adults with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, adjustment, and life-transition issues.
Andrea has unique experience in the creative and innovative use of Animal assisted Therapy (AAT). Research shows that contact with a therapy animal can help reduce anxiety and may even allow a client to benefit from therapy more quickly. The use of AAT is especially helpful with children and adolescents who may be anxious about or resistant to treatment.
We all have different life-experiences. Andrea believes that the way we perceive these experiences can have a powerful impact on our thinking, moods and behaviors. We may not have control over everything that happens in life but we can learn to make positive changes in the way we think, feel and respond to situations. We can choose not to let negative experiences from the past define who we are or how we live in the present. With an approach that is both supportive and solution-focused, Andrea helps clients heal and develop the skills they need to resolve challenges, achieve goals, and make positive changes for the future.
For those families that approach their lives and resolve their challenges from a faith-based perspective, Andrea’s own Christian faith allows her to understand and work with them in a way that honors their values and belief system.

Marcy Blake

Practice Name: Peace by Piece

Email: mblake@pbp-counseling.com

About: I started my counseling career in 2005 and have had the privilege to walk alongside children, teens and adults as they seek change through healing and understanding. I truly believe everyone can benefit from the counseling process and a counselor relationship. I love seeing clients learn new ways of thinking and healthy, effective ways of coping that can be used to mend past hurts, solve present problems and be called upon for future struggles. Using a cognitive-behavioral approach, I strive to help clients identify negative thought patterns and replace them with truthful, healthy thoughts. It’s these new beliefs that will give way to new feelings and behavioral patterns.

I find it particularly rewarding to work with stressed out, anxious teens struggling to manage unrealistic expectations. It can be so difficult to be a teenager these days. Watching them weave together new ways of thinking, coping skills, increased self-awareness, healthy ways of communicating and a strong sense of self as they work to become a stronger, more whole person is a beautiful process.

I have experience working with the following treatment areas: Anxiety, ADHD in children, Boundaries, Children of divorce, Codependency, Communication, Decision making, Depression, Family issues, Grief, Guilt, Managing stress, OCD, Panic Disorder, Parenting, School problems, Self-esteem, Self-image, Self-worth issues, Shame, and Social Anxiety. I have a Master of Arts in Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas. I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health Care and Aetna insurance. Reduced fee available for those who qualify. I see all clients at Cottonwood Creek Church.

Lydia Shen

Practice Name:The Restoring Place

Email: therestoringplace@lydiashen.com

About: From striving for perfection to rest in the freedom of authenticity and grace, Lydia’s journey is one of transformation. Growing up in a culture where emotions were rarely expressed, she learned early on to appear “put together” while quietly struggling inside. Through her own process of healing, Lydia got to experience the freedom of emotional honesty and God’s heart for restoration—a process that deeply shapes the way she walks with her clients today.

Originally from China, Lydia earned a Master of Science in Cognitive Neuroscience before moving to Dallas to complete her Master of Arts in Counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary. This blend of scientific training, theological depth, and lived cross-cultural experience gives her a unique perspective in understanding both the emotional and spiritual dimensions of healing.
Lydia specializes in couples counseling and trauma recovery, with a particular focus on cross-cultural relationships and individuals navigating cultural or identity transitions. She is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)—approaches that help clients restore safety, connection, and hope.
Lydia believes healing begins when we feel seen and understood, and her passion is helping people rebuild connection—with themselves, with others, and with God.
Married for over a decade and a mother of three energetic boys, Lydia values family, authenticity, and faith. She considers it an honor to walk alongside individuals and couples who desire to grow in emotional health, relational wholeness, and a renewed sense of God’s peace in their story.
